This warning appears even while the brake fluid level is ok. In that case a faulty handbrake switch is the problem and you need to replace the handbrake switch. A new handbrake switch will cost you about 3.15 euro but the fitting takes quite some time and when you leave that to peugeot it will cost you a lot more. You can also do it yourself and I decided to replace the handbrake switch today because I have this problem for the second time now. I took some pictures so all the members can see how to do it yourself.
First you will need a new handbrake switch. They can be ordered at any peugeot dealer and shouldn't cost you much.
To reach the handbrake switch you will need to remove the center console first.
Pull out the piece of plastic under the handbrake with a screwdriver
Next remove the ashtray by gently pulling it out.
You can now remove the leather around the gearstick
The front sidepanels are connected with two screws, remove them and take the sidepanels out
Now the sidepanels are gone you can take out the air outlet pipes
Before you can remove the mid console first disconnect the wiring of the electric parts.
The mid console is connected with 4 bolts
Gently remove the mid console
Remove the plastic piece behind the handbrake
Remove the rubber cover that's around the handbrake
Finally it's possible to see the handbrake switch
Disconnect the wiring and remove the switch
The old and the new one
You can now place the new switch and follow the same procedure the other way around. Before you put everything in place connect the wiring of the electrical parts and check if everything is working ok.
If everything went ok you should end up like this, problem solved
